How to make a salad This class involves seed starting, food preparation and lunch! Participants will leave with tiny pots to bring home and grow some greens, a recipe for, say, a Greek Salad (Nina is Greek) and some conversation and making and then enjoying. Casual, fun, long lasting information and a plant that grows in time (thyme). Alzheimer's Support Book Making Currently I am offering a class that supports the family members of someone with dementia. Not so much about my book, but rather creating a book of family memorabilia that is used as a communication aide. This inability to communicate keeps folks from visiting their loved ones, and that creates a sadder world.
The class teaches through conversation, ways to talk, best ways to walk, how to connect with the staff in a facility, and of course, how to put together a life-book. It takes all day, includes lunch and I have connections with local bed and breakfast facilities close by in case of need. Its a retreat with a love-purpose.
Location Warner Springs, California San Diego county- top, right, between Temecula and Julian. Chaparral, 3000 elevation. 6 acres with sitting spots. Indoors- metal building. It's not a cottage. It's not cute. Its a working artist's studio on loan to you for a few hours. Utilitarian, toilet and great library (no not in the same spot!). The chairs are miss matched and comfy. Views of the Palomar Mountain Range and Beauty Mountain. Close to mom and pop sized vineyards (not to diminish their amazing wine, but to describe their size and friendly casual feel). Snakes, spiders and mountain lions are here.
