Nina Karavasiles, I, have a long career in Public Art and studio arts.
I have been an adjunct college art professor for 7 years after receiving a Masters in Visual Arts from UCSD.
My Bachelor's of Art is from Montserrat College of Art in MA
There are other things too:
I like designing sustainable bathrooms and kitchens. I’m fond of native plants as well as the flip side of that, which is growing the vegetables we eat. I practice yoga and Tai Chi. I designed the meditation device/system called Eye Chanting. I have made ‘book-arts’ book and also wrote a story book “Alzheimers: Embracing the Humor” (no longer sold on Amazon but here LINK).
I live with Ralf Willruth, a photographer and together we are Stance Studios shooting products, environmental portraits and things of delight in our semi retirement.
Founding member of Public Address, 20 years ago, we started a group to support the notion of public art and arts in general and we persist. Most recently, in 2018 we did an exhibit at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Link to Public Address here.
Julie McConnell and I were partners in 'Just Shift', a 9 day art retreat to support the planet and its animals with art making and exhibiting. www.julieamcconnell.com
Gang of Five was formed in a University of Oklahoma painting class. It's been 40 years of exhibiting, friendship and we have a new show coming up at University of Oklahoma's Lightwell Gallery in November of 2022. Laura Warriner, Caroline Farris, David Hailey, Ying Kit Chan.
