Direct Nature Sketchbooking Please note, a new class is in the schedule at Shipley Nature Center (scroll down).
We will go for a guided walkabout tour of the area to capture the landscape in a sketchbook format.
This is for 1 or up to 7 skilled or unskilled artists. A small blank book with be provided with the use of various mediums.
Sketching is a great way to get creative. There is no pressure to produce a final masterpiece, but rather to investigate, and get ideas for the next masterpiece. One can fumble with new techniques, test new mediums and storytelling in an open ended way in a sketch book.
There will be focused observations and a moment to take time in nature (and still be close to a bathroom!).
Teacher Nina is open to negotiating different times and for special groups, including a trip to the vineyards to sketch. Please ask.
Two hours in duration $60.00 for one person.
About the teacher and the location.
Nina Karavasiles, typically a public artist, will be teaching this class. She has also been a college adjunct professor for many years. She is totally enjoying the openness of teaching these kinds of classes, outside and outside of a curriculum.

Utilitarian; toilet and great library, chairs are miss matched and comfy. Views of the Palomar Mountain Range and Beauty Mt. Close to mom and pop sized vineyards (not to diminish their amazing wine, but to describe their size and casual feel). Snakes, spiders and mountain lions are here. Shipley Nature Center is in Huntington Beach CA. Here is a direct link https://shipleynature.org/
Shipley has created a fantastic area that shows the native plantings near the coast. There are a number of sitting areas, an amphitheater, other classes, and a gift shop. Well worth the trip even without taking a class. 25% of my class fees go to Shipley as a donation.
