I'm putting this together for the website and there are many other pieces in the one person show, however, I'll instead share my notes in making the PR as it made me laugh. "Nina Karavasiles' thought process is so sharp it is at the cutting edge. Her work pushes the envelope almost to the point of falling off the table. The constant shift in media and the unconventional venues for her art blur the boundaries between sculpture, performance and something else all together. Of her own work she muses...." Stapled in layers that must be manipulated to read. These are slices of paper written in depth of layer
The Ledge The thing that holds the object is integral to the entire piece. The holder is equal in importance to the item. Tool parts. The Ledger group started when I say these great metal things.
Minimal utilitarian forms. Broken and no longer useful. On a shelf or ledge. To support an object.To become part of the total object.
Styrofoam is cut into a shape and the sand is packed around it, hot metal flakes the Styrofoam away. It is cast aluminum. Made with a sand process.
Synonyms for ledge are; mantle, bracket, edge, jut, offset, projection.
