Helios is a solar powered kinetic art piece.

The solar panel is on top (the black looking rectangular pool of water). When the sun is on it, and only then, meaning there is no battery, the spiked barrel rotates around the center.

If you cover the panel with your hands, the barrel stops giving a direct association with the sun. Helios is the Greek word for sun. (now is the time for the Kimono joke).

This piece was deemed too dangerous for the public- children would try to ride the arm, and the spikes, well they are spikes. It is displayed at my home.
