THINGS REGARDING THE BODY

I had in mind to alter something that was just on the edge of not right, but not enough to to make a person ask.
Phil Steinmetz kindly to this photo for me.
The best is when I was doing a performance piece in Switzerland with Pasquale Verdiccio, they asked me for a portrait image. I sent me and my long eyebrows and forgot about it. When I was checking in I heard giggling in the back and a few office workers came to the front to see my eyebrows.
I had seen women with long nails struggling to do their job, like check out at the grocery store. At first I thought about the need to compensate for their position, but then I thought about how hard it must be to actually work with the decorative obstructions.
I then made some that were so obtrusive that no one could ever wear them. Sort of pushing it.

I was in graduate school in the very theoretical UCSD. Crafts were frowned upon, however, I like to make things, I could use the cash and had convinced a shopkeeper to give me a show. I put on a wig, changed my accent from Bostonian to a horrible rendition of the south and changed me name temporarily to Ellen Adayzwork, like all in a days work. I sold some things.
