The closest free place is the creek bed across the street at CalFire.
Please use the bathrooms at the Resource Center as there are none at the Fire Station.
Please be cautious of rain flooding the creek. 


2 options to stay at the Los Coyotes Reservation on Hot Springs Mountain

A nicely remodeled trailer hipcamp.com/en-us/land, and tent campsites with porta
potties. There is no Wifi or electricity at the campground.
The fee is $25 for 4 people at one campsite per night.

Birdsong Backcountry Retreat
Glamping at its finest. Dog friendly. Property on Chihuahua Valley Road borders on BLM land and has a variety of housing (and varied rate) options, which are all artfully appointed. Two night minimum. Pick up and drop off can be coordinated.

The Lazy Y. Through AirBnB. Kimberley and Dale Smith have three accommodations on their property that include showers and and jacuzzis. They have a pick up and drop off service for an additional fee. They are on Chihuahua Valley Road. Rates are around $110.00 per night

Lake Henshaw Resort (11 miles) has cabins (Kitchenette), studios, tent camp sites (27 per night), RV sites. There is a store and a restaurant. There are showers. There is a resort fee of 27.00 and the prices range based on the weekend vs weekday and occupancy. $81.00- 91.00.   760-782-3501

Hideout Mountain Lodge has 4 types of accommodations; cabin (12), adobe cabin, 2 vintage trailers, campsite and RV space.The can all be seen at www.hideoutmountainlodge.com The are behind Jose’ Hideout (restaurant and salon) on Highway 76, an 11 minute drive from the RC. Ranchita Country Cowboy Hideaway. www.luxuryhomesinSD.com . There are 4 different properties. Some come with food, some with hot tubs. 2 are trailers. Dodge Mountain Ranch in Sunshine Summit has two types of overnights:  Tent camping with showers and washing machine for $20.00 per person or a 24’ RV that sleeps 4 for $100.00 per night.

Vineyards in the area


Shadow Mountain Vineyard used to have a few canvas buildings, but they are not open right now.
They do have a lovely tasting room, fantastic wines a mom and pop with a legacy.

Sierra Roble Vineyard is on Highway 79 in Sunshine Summit. RV camping is possible. Amazing view and great wines. Often there is live music. https://www.sierraroble.com/

Hawk Watch would be a great place to stop on the way up to Birdsong Backcountry, or any place in Chihuahua Valley. Great wine and they ringing the bell at sunset, a charming tradition.  Often there is music!   https://hawkwatchwinery.com/


Emerald Creek is on Highway 79 and a long walk, but perhaps you are hiking sections and are heading out towards Temecula.. This is our largest winery with both indoor and outdoor seating. Bocci court and often has music on the weekends.     https://emeraldcreekwinery.com/

Transportation

Heidi Redman:  A Lyft driver or also personal rides for cash to Idyllwild, Julian, some airports (call for details)  General rate is $2.00 per mile.  Receipts through Square App.  619-804-0110.  Heidi is also a sourdough baker!

Frank goes to Temecula, Julian, Poway, El Cajon, Escondido and San Diego airport.  He does not go to LAX or OC (SNA), San Bernadino nor Riverside. Prefers cash upfront and must show a valid photo ID.  Up to 3 people and he has a roof rack. Text to  1-619-871-2472
