"Pull Down"

In Pull Down involve the body in a weight - movement way. The conceptual core of this piece is the notion of tutelage. Someone with an understanding of the piece's movement initiates a new viewer, who at first views it as a static, albeit, sumptuous piece. When pulled forward, and image is revealed on the top surface. A photographic image imbedded in plaster which is inside an aluminum "cup." Because of the proximity to the eye and the nature of the imagery, it demands close scrutiny rather than a casual glance. This creates a further bond with a viewer. Would any small image do? Perhaps, but it must be from the same, head - looking - down position. Why the aerial view? Because the piece can be pulled down in many directions, the image had to be readable from multiple directions. And because the view corresponds conceptually to the images' high altitude when the piece is standing upright.
