"Form Message"
The wheelbarrow had manure.
It rained thus adding
water. Surface scum formed. The next two days I tried
to interpret a message as it expanded. I photographed
it and cut the form into a white cotton fabric. I
stitched the shape into more of the gauzy fabric. The
notion of paying close attention to nature and finding
the blandness in the regular was wonderful. I
photographed one of my favorite plants, the naphalium.
So common you can step on it. That image was
iron-transferred to the first layer. Then a hand
stitched silk yellow stuffed ‘pillow’ sandwiched
between the two white layers. The top layer with the
trapunto translation of froth is transparent enough to
see the two layers beneath. They are held together
with a red cotton top that is affixed to the wall with
long straight pins.
