30 pieces were jury selected for placement on the District's land that runs along the coast from the Tijuana Estuary to Mission Bay.

"Solar Illuminations" integrates solar panels for the art piece's lights and makes a viewer aware of the suns power and potential which is mostly overlooked in sunny San Diego.This piece is symmetrical and non-symbolic. I designed it to be benign and devoid of anything thought provoking. I was careful to stay within the criteria that would make this piece desirable. In fact taking meaning away; paring down the elements that would allow it to exist in San Diego. It is a fascinating endeavor, to understand how an art program chooses to make a squeaky clean statement about the region and happily places an array of sterile sculptures in front of, say for instance, grossly polluted waters. I actually volunteered my design time to produce two maquettes and they were both chosen. "Harmonic Sound" however, encountered a few issues (the committee wasn't sure if it would indeed make sound, and it looked too much like a Jewish Menorah to them) and so I decided to only produce one piece of the two accepted, "Solar Illuminations". I am thrilled to be part of the momentum of this group exhibition and to be involved with cultural tourism as designed.
