"Historic Map Case "
The art map case is the same as the regulation map cases at the station. The placement is just next to the standard map case. The contents, however, are a bit more ironic. There is a copper map of the area showing Native American trails and villages. It also shows water ways and our contemporary freeways. It shows how similar our transportation routes have been through history. The next window case houses a brochure for the electric trolley from 1915. Now why take out something and put it back? On the back side of the map, for the first year, will be a list of names of all the workers that built the station. Beyond the fact that is a huge list, it is also alphabetized by first name. First names because that is how the workers know each other. Next year the list will come down and a geology display will go up. The station has an amazing cliff of rounded rocks ( which also made the benches and walls at the station) it yields some great specimens and a way to travel back in time. David Bloom of the San Diego State University Geology group will be helping me with that project.
The following is a list of all the workers who built the 70th St. Trolley Station. Their names are in alphabetical order, by their first name, which is how everybody knows each other on a job site. Thanks to you all.
