"A-WHERE-NESS"

Commissioned by Sushi Performance Gallery for their Street Sites Program in 1991. The site for this temporary installation is Brownfield Airport in San Ysidro CA, right on the Mexican border. The piece was done collaboratively with Michael Golino. It consisted of "BermaShave" type signs along the highway enticing drivers to pull in for a drive through art experience. In a large circle, on an open field there were pennant shaped metal signs with phrases painted on them. They changed direction in the wind. The phrased had to do with land/borders issues. A video tape was produced from the installation.
