DESERT

Nothing in the desert.

This stone oblique is where the Yuha Desert and the Anza-Borrego Desert intersect, on highway S2 Imperial County. I have placed a new plaque were there was a vacant space. The original plaque had been stolen long ago. This art piece has since been sited in the book Anza Borrego A to Z by Diana Lindsay (Sunbelt Press 619-258-4911). The San Diego Association of Geologists commemorated this piece during their 2006 field trip. www.sandiegogeologists.org. View map.

It is made from plaster with a rubbed graphite surface. I choose plaster so that it would be undesirable to steal. The following haiku poem was recently sent to me.

It is just plaster
leave it for others to see
scrap value is nil
